Typical Day as a Resident
Residents on unit rotations will start at 7am. If on long call on the units [every 3rd day], they will end their shift at 7pm. If not on long call, residents will sign out at 4pm. Residents will round on their patient on weekends starting at 7am. If not on call that weekend day, they will end their shift after rounding and charting on their patients. When there are interns only on the unit team, interns will not come in on Sundays.
Residents on non-unit rotations will start at 8am and end their shift at 4pm. There is no weekend duty on non-units or electives.
Night Float residents will start at 7pm and sign out with hand-offs at 7am. There will always be a faculty member on site during night flow. Residents do not take call on Sundays when only interns are on the team. Otherwise the resident and intern will alternate working Saturday or Sunday.
