News: Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center to host Northwest Trail Run Nov. 13

Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center and McHenry County Orthopaedics will host a 5- and 10-mile Northwest Trail Run Sunday, Nov. 13 at Veteran Acres Park in Crystal Lake. The 10-mile race begins at 8:30 a.m. and the five-mile race begins at 8:50 a.m. The park has entrances off Route 176 and Walkup Road. Parking will be available at the park.A post-race party will give participants a chance to relive the fun while they enjoy food and drinks in the Rotary Building. The post-race party will feature Starbucks coffee; hot apple cider and apples from Tom’s Farm Market, Gatorade from Whisper Creek, Subway sandwiches, and fruit donated by Lakemoor Banquets.

Funds raised from the event will support the Centegra Gavers Breast Center. Donations to the Crystal Lake Food Pantry will also be accepted at packet pick-up locations and on the day of the race.”This is our second year for the Northwest Trail Run and we are thrilled to bring it back again to our community,”  said Brian Grasser, race director. “After receiving such positive feedback from our participants last year we are expecting high participation this year.” One of last year’s participants said, “I’ve run a lot of races and this was by far the most organized, fun and exciting, with lots of volunteers cheering you on and a lot of markings on the trail. I will be back next year!” The first 400 people to register will receive free Northwest Trail Run shirts. Early-bird registration is open through Nov. 10. Packet pick-up will be from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12th at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake; and from 7 to 8:15 a.m. the day of the race at Veteran Acres Park.Volunteers are needed as course marshals, water station attendants and finish line workers. Race results will be posted on Awards will be given to all first, second and third-place winners in each age division. The overall male and female winners of each five and 10-mile race will be awarded a pair of Trail Running Shoes of choice, valued between $90 and $120.
