Centegra physician gives back at Family Health Partnership Clinic

Centegra has a long history of helping underserved in McHenry County

Once a month, Jyothi Gogineni, MD, a fellowship-trained endocrinologist with Centegra Physician Care, sees patients at the Family Health Partnership Clinic in Crystal Lake.

She joins a long tradition of providers and Associates from Centegra Health System who have donated their time and expertise to the Family Health Partnership Clinic since it opened in 1996. The clinic provides health care to patients on a sliding-fee scale, although no patients are turned away if they are unable to pay.

Dr. Gogineni has been volunteering at the clinic for about seven years, starting when she was just beginning to build her practice in McHenry County.

“When I was starting to build my practice, I had time to help out with the diabetes patients at the clinic,” Dr. Gogineni said. “I’ve continued to do it because I love being able to help. Even though our practice is very busy now, Centegra continues to support my volunteer work at the clinic.”

Dr. Gogineni said everyone at the clinic works together to deliver care to the patients, including many who don’t have health insurance.

“It’s a very well-run organization,” Dr. Gogineni said. “Everybody shares the same goal — to help people in need.”

Dr. Gogineni typically sees patients with diabetes and thyroid disorders at the Family Health Partnership Clinic and has found it particularly rewarding to help patients get their diabetes under control to prevent complications.

“It’s great to be able to empower them to gain control over their disease,” Dr. Gogineni said. “They appreciate that and feel good about it.”

Judy Andronowitz, Vice President, Centegra Physician Care Operations, also supports the Family Health Partnership, serving on the clinic’s board.

“It is my pleasure to serve the Family Health Partnership Clinic as I know from personal past history, growing up on a farm, what it’s like to not have access to high-quality health care,” Andronowitz said. “Each individual deserves high-quality health care, and the Family Health Partnership Clinic is there to support the health and wellness of our community regardless of ability to pay.”
