On Wednesday, Jan. 30, the Thunder girls basketball teams will host the Teal Awareness Benefit Game at Woodstock North High School as they play the Blue Streaks from Woodstock High School. The entire community is invited to attend to support their favorite team and the ovarian cancer fundraiser. The freshmen and sophomores will play at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity team at 7 p.m.
During the games, visitors may make a donation, buy a T-shirt or visit the memory wall that honors loved ones who have battled the disease. The memory wall is for both survivors and woman who lost their battle with ovarian cancer. To participate in the memory wall, please send a photograph including name, age of diagnosis, and stage of diagnosis to tealaroundtown_woodstock@yahoo.com (tealaroundtown_woodstock@yahoo.com) no later than Monday, Jan. 28.
Donations will be presented to Centegra Health System to subsidize genetic screening and counseling for women who are at a high risk for ovarian cancer.
