Level II Trauma Centers in Northern Illinois

The Emergency Departments at Centegra Health System bring state-of-the-art emergency and trauma services to the people of the McHenry County region. We treat each patient with dignity and compassion and help families cope with difficult and sometimes traumatic situations. Centegra Health System’s emergency rooms in McHenry and Woodstock have the advanced capabilities to handle a spectrum of conditions, from serious cuts and broken bones to life-threatening issues such as heart attack and stroke.

Centegra has responded to the community’s need for advanced and rapid emergency treatment with a newly renovated and improved Emergency Department at Centegra Hospital-McHenry. The renovation includes:

  • A more spacious and efficient layout that allows our dedicated experts to deliver more effective care
  • 21 modern, private treatment rooms with sliding glass doors, offering privacy and comfort
  • A newly added 14-bed outpatient observation area adjacent to the Emergency Department

The Emergency Departments at Centegra Hospital-McHenry and Centegra Hospital-Woodstock were the first accredited chest pain centers in the region. Both hospitals meet the following criteria to achieve and maintain accreditation:

  • Reduced time from onset of symptoms to diagnosis and treatment
  • Expedient treatment during the critical window of time when the integrity of the heart muscle can be preserved
  • Careful monitoring of patients to determine if a heart attack is occurring, which ensures patients are not sent home too quickly or needlessly admitted to the hospital

At Centegra Immediate Care, we make it easy for individuals in McHenry County to get urgent medical help for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries. Providing prompt treatment and personalized care, our staff includes:

Emergency Medical Services

In 1975, Centegra Health System partnered with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to create the McHenry Western Lake County EMS System.
