Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board supports certificate of need applications
CHICAGO – At its meeting today, the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board (IHFSRB) approved Centegra Health System’s plan to enhance its inpatient behavioral health services by relocating the unit from the 100-year-old Centegra Specialty Hospital-Woodstock to Centegra Hospital-Woodstock on Doty Road. The board also approved Centegra’s plan to centralize obstetrics services to a newly remodeled childbirth center at Centegra Hospital-McHenry. All seven board members who attended the meeting voted in favor of the projects.
“We appreciate the board’s thoughtful consideration and approval of our plans,” said Jason Sciarro, president and chief operating officer of Centegra Health System. “Our associates and physicians look forward to moving ahead with these improvements to our services. As McHenry County’s only provider of inpatient behavioral health care and as a leader in obstetrics care, we understand that all our patients and their families want to receive care in modernized facilities.”
During the past few years, Centegra has seen additional community need for inpatient behavioral health care. The relocation of these services to Centegra Hospital-Woodstock on Doty Road will allow Centegra to serve more patients than ever by increasing the number of staffed inpatient behavioral health beds to 34. Patients also will have access to additional medical care within the same facility, which will enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
To prepare for the relocation of these services, Centegra will first centralize all inpatient obstetrics care to the renovated Family Birth Center at Centegra Hospital-McHenry. The move, which is expected to occur this summer, will give women and their newborns access to enhanced services including 24-hour neonatology care and a second Cesarean-section suite in the Family Birth Center.
Construction of the inpatient behavioral health unit at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock is expected to begin this summer and the service will relocate in early 2015.
