Presentations focus on menopause, teens, knees and disease management

Centegra Health System will host several free health lectures in June. Community members are welcome to hear physicians speak about menopause, prevention of sudden death of teen athletes, new and improved knees, disease management and prevention as well as touchy topics with teens. Hot flashes and sleepless nights could cause anyone to be irritable. Join Dr. Leonard Hering, board certified obstetrician/gynecologist with Centegra Primary Care-McHenry as he discusses the signs, symptoms and treatment options for menopause. Hering also will address the lifestyle changes and home remedies that can help women dealing with menopause cope with these temporary changes. “Help for Menopause: Making the Best of “ËœThe Change’”  will be conducted from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 1 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Huntley. When the sudden death of teen athletes made the headlines recently, many parents paused and wondered about their child’s risk. Dr. Mehran Jabbarzadeh, an electro physiologist and cardiologist on the medical staff at Centegra Health System, will discuss undetected heart defects and other conditions that can lead to sudden death. Learn about symptoms to be aware of and which screening tests can be performed to identify potential causes of sudden teen death. The lecture “Preventing Sudden Death of Teen Athletes”  will be conducted from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 7 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 East Congress Parkway.

Join Dr. Steven Rochell, an orthopedic surgeon on the medical staff at Centegra Health System, as he discusses various knee conditions, the common causes of knee pain as well as the surgical and non-surgical treatment options available for people living with knee pain. “New & Improved Knees Please!”  will be conducted from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 East Congress Parkway.

With age comes many common conditions and diseases that can sometimes leave people feeling under par. Hear from Dr. Ann Dilla, a family practice physician with Centegra Primary Care-Spring Grove, as she discusses the symptoms, prevention and treatment of health topics such as menopause, prostate health and heart disease. The lecture “Disease Prevention and Management” will be conducted from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 21 at State Bank of the Lakes community room in Spring Grove, 1906 Holian Drive.

Learn what age is appropriate to transition a child from a pediatrician to a family physician; what age is appropriate for a teen’s first gynecological exam and what preventive tests and vaccines are recommended. Join Dr. Anita Szeto, a family practice physician with Centegra Primary Care-Huntley as she answers these questions as well as how to discuss these “rights of passage” with teens. “Touchy Topics with Your Teen”  will be conducted from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Huntley, 10450 Algonquin Road.
