MCHENRY – Centegra Health System will expand H1N1 influenza vaccine eligibility to the general public beginning Saturday, Dec. 12. H1N1 flu vaccines will be made available to everyone, while supplies last, at Centegra Primary Care (CPC) sites from 9 a.m. to noon. Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Damon T. Arnold said Thursday that local providers have flexibility to determine if it is necessary to continue prioritizing the vaccine for the at-risk populations, based on the needs in their local area.
H1N1 vaccination clinics are open to the public and scheduled as follows:
- 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 at all four CPC sites in McHenry, Woodstock, Crystal Lake and Huntley with no appointment necessary
- 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15 only at two CPC sites in Crystal Lake and Huntley with no appointment necessary
- 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17 only at two CPC sites in Woodstock and McHenry with no appointment necessary
- Noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17 at the Wellness Center in Prairie Lodge at Sun City, Huntley for Sun City residents only by appointment. Call 847-515-2078 to register.
“Until now, we’ve been focused on serving the needs of the priority population groups – pregnant women; people who live with or care for children less than 6 months of age; healthcare and emergency medical service workers who provide direct patient care; all people 6 months to 24 years of age; and people 25 to 64 years of age with chronic medical conditions,” said David Tomlinson, Vice President of Operations for Centegra Health System.
He added, “Local supply of the H1N1 vaccine has now become greater than the current demand from the targeted population groups and as such, we are pleased to offer beginning Saturday, the H1N1 vaccine to the general public, in addition to individuals from priority groups.”
Centegra evaluated several factors before lifting restrictions on H1N1 vaccine eligibility, including prior vaccine distribution patterns in McHenry County. Since late October, Centegra Health System has provided more than 18,000 vaccines.
There is no charge for the actual vaccine but there is a $15 fee to administer the immunization. These clinics will bill Medicare and Medicaid for the administration fee. All others will be expected to pay $15 at the time of service.
Flu Evaluation and Treatment Clinics
For the time being, Centegra Primary Care (CPC) has discontinued its separately dedicated clinics to treat patients with mild flu-like symptoms. The clinics were open from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at Centegra Primary Care – McHenry, 4309 Medical Center Drive, Suite B205 and Centegra Primary Care – Woodstock, 3707 Doty Road, Medical Office Building II. Centegra will re-open these evaluation and treatment clinics as needed throughout the flu season.
Those with mild flu symptoms including fever, body aches, runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, are encouraged to call or visit their primary care physician for evaluation and treatment.
Centegra Immediate Care Centers also are open to evaluate and treat the flu from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and holidays. They are in Crystal Lake at 360 Station Drive and in Huntley at 10350 Haligus Road.
