Thirty million men suffer from prostate conditions ranging from an enlarged prostate, to prostate cancer; both are treatable if caught early. Unfortunately, most men aren’t sure what their prostate is or does. Learn from Dr. Apurva Desai, an independent oncology and hematology physician on the medical staff at Centegra Health System, as he discusses the importance of prostate health during Prostate Awareness Month, which is September. Desai will address the symptoms associated with various prostate conditions, screenings and treatments available at the lecture titled, “Taking Care of Your Prostate Health,” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 East Congress Parkway. Both men and women are encouraged to attend.People suffering from arthritis of the knee often consider knee replacement surgery.

Join Dr. Robert Hall, an independent orthopedic surgeon on the medical staff at Centegra Health System as he discusses “tailor-made” knees from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 East Congress Parkway. Hear about patient-specific instrumentation (PSI), which refers to the prosthetic device used to replace the knee joint in a total knee arthroplasty. The procedure uses computer-guided alignment, is less invasive than traditional knee replacement procedures and has a faster recovery time.

Dr. Thomas Weyburn, an independent oncology and hematology specialist on the medical staff at Centegra Health System, will present “Lifestyle and Cancer: Tips to Minimize Your Cancer Risk” 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 East Congress Parkway.
