Learn tips about how to properly manage your diabetes at a free diabetes fair hosted by Centegra Health System from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 6. The diabetes fair will be held at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center, 10450 Algonquin Road, Huntley, and will feature State Rep. Mike Tryon, R-Crystal Lake.
The diabetes fair will offer on-site diabetes screenings relating to prevention and monitoring of diabetes, which is the sixth leading cause of death by disease. Additionally, Centegra Health System will showcase the various diabetes prevention classes it offers with a representative from each class on hand to answer questions.
Centegra’s new endocrinologists Dr. Jyothi Gogineni and Dr. Jawaad Khokhar will also be introduced and available to talk with fair attendees. The featured speaker is Tryon who was diagnosed with diabetes and regularly attends the Centegra Diabetes Center to help manage his health.
“Illinois has one of the highest rates of diabetes per capita in the country. I’m looking forward to sharing my story and explaining the lifestyle changes I continue to make to tackle this disease,” Tryon said.
The Centegra Diabetes Center, located in the Crystal Lake Medical Arts building, offers diabetes self-management training, medical nutrition therapy and follow-up sessions to help those suffering from diabetes develop an effective plan to fight the disease.
“I want to thank Centegra for hosting this diabetes fair to help educate our community about diabetes and about how to make positive lifestyle choices that will make living with the disease so much easier,” Tryon said.
