Centegra Health System will host several free health lectures in November and December. Community members are welcome to hear physicians speak about ways to improve lung health, keep children safe and manage stress during the holiday season. Learn the effects of primary and secondhand smoke with Dr. Ashby Jordan, independent specialist in pulmonary medicine on staff at Centegra Health System, as he explains how to improve lung health and enhance air quality in homes. This free lecture, “The Healthy Lung: Ways to Breathe Easier” will be conducted from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center – Crystal Lake, 200 Congress Parkway.
In December, Dr. Christine Poulos, board certified pediatrician with Centegra Primary Care, will present “Keeping Your Children Safe – From Video Games to Holiday Ornaments” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center – Crystal Lake, 200 E. Congress Parkway.
Poulos will address common parent safety concerns about toys, including video games and trampolines. She will also discuss bicycle safety and ways to prevent accidents during the holidays when Christmas trees, ornaments and electrical cords are especially appealing to children.
Centegra’s physician lecture “Holidays Stress You Out? Managing Stress During the Holiday Season” will be conducted from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center – Huntley, 10450 Algonquin Road. Heidi Dooley, a behavioral health clinician with Centegra Health System, will discuss ways to cope with the fast-paced season and get the most enjoyment out of this year’s holiday season.
