Community members may know Charie Zanck as the chairman of the board of directors of the Illinois Bankers Association, vice president and chief executive officer of American Community Bank & Trust, the president of Woodstock’s Challenger Learning Center for Science & Technology and the chairman of the board of governors of Centegra Health System. For her selfless giving and commitment to the people of McHenry County, Zanck was awarded Centegra Health System’s Community Leadership 2013 Award Feb. 6.
The distinguished Centegra Community Leadership Award recognizes McHenry County leaders who demonstrate service on a broad scale that has resulted in improvements and contributions in the realm of community service and overall community health. This is the 13th annual opportunity to celebrate a success story of a leader who has been nominated and identified for this award.

Eesley, chief executive officer of Centegra Health System. “We thank her for her tireless devotion to making McHenry County a better, healthier place to live. Whether it’s for banking, health care, education or any other cause for which there’s a need to contribute, she sincerely wants to make the world a better place. It’s just her nature to get involved.”
Zanck has supported the health system’s auxiliaries, foundation and many events. She has been a member of the Centegra Health System Board of Governors for seven years and was chairman of the board for three years.
A lifelong resident of Woodstock, Zanck graduated from Marian Central Catholic High School. She earned a master’s degree in business administration in finance from the University of Chicago School of Business. Today, She lives in Woodstock with her husband of 30 years, Tom. She has two sons and daughters-in-law and six grandchildren.
She has led the McHenry County Economic Development Corporation, the Friends of McHenry County College, Woodstock Business and Professional Women, the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Leadership Greater McHenry County and the United Way of McHenry County.
She has received numerous awards, including the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce and Industry Harold Buschkopf Community Service Award, the Northwestern Financial Review Outstanding Women in Banking Award, Financial Services Award, Boy Scouts Blackhawk Council Champion of Youth Award, Northwest Herald Women of Distinction Award and the Marian Central Distinguished Alumni Award.
