The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories(ICAEL) has granted accreditation to Centegra Hospital-McHenry and Centegra Hospital-Woodstock. The Centegra echo labs are now among the growing number of echocardiography laboratories in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico to be recognized for their commitment to high quality patient care and their provision of quality diagnostic testing.
”Cardiac structure and the flow of information provided by echocardiographic testing is useful in the detection and management of many types of heart disease,” said Dr. Paresh Rawal, an independent cardiologist on the medical staff at Centegra Health System and medical director of echocardiography. “Echocardiography is a complex imaging technique that relies on the experience and training of a physician and sonographer. Centegra associates use outstanding interpretive and technical abilities to determine the diagnostic accuracy of an echocardiographic exam and this accreditation confirms that commitment to quality.”
The ICAEL was established with the support of the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the Society of Pediatric Echocardiography (SOPE) to provide a peer review mechanism to encourage and recognize high quality patient healthcare. Participation in the accreditation process is voluntary. Accreditation status signifies that a facility has been reviewed by an independent agency that recognizes a lab’s commitment to quality testing for the diagnosis of heart disease.”
The residents of McHenry County should feel secure knowing that Centegra has developed a university-medical-center-quality cardiac program right here in McHenry County and remains dedicated to providing the highest-quality, vital healthcare services to the residents in our community,” said Rachel Sebastian, vice president of service line operations at Centegra Health System.”The heart and imaging teams at Centegra have worked diligently to bring this much-needed echo lab to the county and the number of patients we have helped to save since its inception have proven the need and has shown the difference we have made in lives of so many,” said John Heinrich, director of medical imaging at Centegra Health System. Both Centegra Hospital-McHenry and Centegra Hospital-Woodstock have received Chest Pain Center Accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC), an international organization dedicated to eliminating heart disease as the number one cause of death worldwide.
