Centegra expands H1N1 vaccine opportunities

MCHENRY – Centegra Health System is now offering H1N1 influenza vaccine to the general public. Beginning Monday, Dec. 21, H1N1 flu vaccines will be made available to everyone, while supplies last, at Centegra Immediate Care Centers from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Vaccination and evaluation and treatment clinics are closed for the time being and will re-open when needed.

“Our vaccination and evaluation and treatment clinics were very successful in serving the needs of the priority population groups – pregnant women; people who live with or care for children less than 6 months of age; healthcare and emergency medical service workers who provide direct patient care; all people 6 months to 24 years of age; and people 25 to 64 years of age with chronic medical conditions,” said David Tomlinson, Vice President of Operations for Centegra Health System.

He added, “The availability and convenience of our Immediate Care Centers provides expanded hours and more opportunity for the general public to now receive the vaccine, in addition to individuals from priority groups. We want McHenry County residents to know that we have a large supply of the vaccine right now and that it’s very important everyone is vaccinated to help knock out the spread of the H1N1 flu virus.”

Since late October, Centegra Health System has provided more than 20,000 vaccines.

There is no charge for the actual vaccine but there is a $15 fee to administer the immunization. These Immediate Care Centers will bill Medicare and Medicaid for the administration fee. All others will be expected to pay $15 at the time of service.

Those with mild flu symptoms including fever, body aches, runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, are encouraged to call or visit their primary care physician for evaluation and treatment. Centegra Immediate Care Centers also are open to evaluate and treat the flu from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and holidays.

Centegra Immediate Care Centers are in Crystal Lake at 360 Station Drive and in Huntley at 10350 Haligus Road.
