News: Athletes improve speed, agility and power at conditioning program

HUNTLEY – Summer is the perfect time for athletes of any sport and at any ability level to improve their sports conditioning. Any athlete age 9 and older can maximize his or her potential at TOP SPEED, a professional-level conditioning program available at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center – Huntley, 10450 Algonquin Road.

TOP SPEED builds upon the fundamental aspects of athleticism and uses the newest resources, modalities and techniques to prepare each athlete for his or her best performance. At the start of the program each participant takes part in a performance assessment. The same assessment is completed at the end of the program to measure the athlete’s improvements. If an athlete sees no measureable change in performance, the program fee is returned.

“Our pilot run of this program had 10 high school athletes enrolled and every parameter in the post-performance testing was improved,”  said Gary Nielsen, fitness manager and sports performance specialist at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center.

A team of certified and experienced sports performance specialists trains the athletes in the TOP SPEED program. The program is three days a week for one month for a total of 12 sessions.

“Athletes see great improvements in their speed, reaction times and agility after they finish this training,”  Nielsen said. “It’s a great program for anyone who wants to maximize his or her potential on the field, court, track or course.” 
