Sun Safety

Help your family beat the heat and stay healthy while you enjoy outdoor activities this summer. To stay hydrated when you’re outside, drink water regularly. Encourage your kids to take water breaks so they stay cool. Use about a shot glass of sunscreen to cover an adult, and be sure to reapply sunscreen regularly when you’ve been swimming or sweating. If a person becomes weak, pale, clammy, dizzy or has nausea, muscle cramps or a headache, he may have heat exhaustion. Immediately help him cool down by going to an air conditioned area or using a cool bath or compresses. If a person is hot, red, not sweating, has a rapid pulse or trouble breathing, call 911 immediately. This may be heat stroke and is a life-threatening medical emergency. For more information about ways to stay safe this summer, call (877) CENTEGRA.
