With all the buzz about vitamin D, many people are confused about the importance of this vitamin. To raise community awareness about vitamin D and its role in the lives of people with cancer and chronic disease, Centegra Health System will sponsor a free program at McHenry County College from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 6.I’m Dr. Terrence Bugno, an independent radiation oncologist on the medical staff at Centegra. Please join me with Dr. Geoffrey Smoron and Dr. Syed Zahir as we discuss vitamin D and other integrative health options. The vitamin D recommended daily allowance values are for disease prevention, however people need more vitamin D to reap its complete benefits. Whether you have cancer, a chronic disease or simply want to feel your best, talk to your doctor about how much you need. I recommend a supplement of 2,000 international units each day.
