Centegra Health System is partnering with Cardiac Surgery Associates to offer cardiac calcium scoring to men and women ages 35 to 75. This screening checks for the probability of plaque, which can be associated with other heart disease risk factors. Heart scans may show that you have a higher risk of having a heart attack or other problems before you have any obvious symptoms. The test is especially recommended if you have borderline high blood pressure or cholesterol or if you smoke.Cardiac calcium scoring requires no prep and takes about 30 minutes at our McHenry, Huntley and Crystal Lake medical imaging locations. Walk-ins are accepted and a physician order is not required for an appointment. The $75 screening cost, which is due at the time of service, includes the hospital charge and radiologist fee.
