Speaker: Alissa Erogbogbo, Obstetrician/Gynecologist with Centegra Primary Care
Women today are busier than ever, but we should never be too busy to put our own health first. One of the best ways you can manage your health is to see your doctor each year for a physical.I’m Dr. Alissa Erogbogbo, an obstetrician and gynecologist with Centegra Primary Care.A well-woman checkup will involve different examinations depending on your age, but after age 18 most appointments will include a check of your height, weight and blood pressure. Your doctor will listen to your heart and lungs, and will usually perform a clinical breast exam, pelvic exam and pap test. Many women will also receive a blood test to screen for cholesterol, thyroid function, blood glucose, and blood counts. You should talk to your doctor about whether you are at the age to receive a mammogram, EKG, test for blood in the stool or a colonoscopy.Take a list of questions to ask your doctor so you feel prepared to discuss your health concerns. Your doctor will help you understand ways to improve your health so you can get the most out of life.
