Ultrasound
Whether you are experiencing the joy of pregnancy or have abdominal pain, the accuracy of an ultrasound provides your physician an inside view of your body. An ultrasound exam uses high-frequency sound waves to produce live images of your internal organs and structures.

Many people think that ultrasounds are only used for expectant women, but there are several areas of the body that are viewed well by ultrasounds.
- Heart
- Blood flow

- Veins
- Arteries

Frequently Asked Questions
How will my ultrasound be performed?
Every ultrasound is specific to the patient’s needs, but there are some components of the test that are the same for everyone. You will lie on a table and a technician will dim the lights in the room. He or she will explain each step of the ultrasound and answer any questions you may have. Your physician will be the person who provides you the ultrasound results. If you have any questions about your ultrasound prior to your appointment, our caring Associates are happy to assist you. How do I prepare for my ultrasound?
Our Associates will tell you how to prepare for your test. Patients who need an ultrasound on their gallbladder may be asked to fast six to eight hours prior to the exam, while expectant mothers may be asked to drink at least four glasses of water before their test. Preparations and expectations for ultrasounds vary depending on the area to be examined.
