Tips to help aging athletes prevent injuries
Whether you are a seasoned athlete or recently have taken up exercise, it is important to take preventative measures to avoid overuse injuries and decrease the risk of suffering from common aches and pains.
Here are some quick tips to take preventative steps to avoid injury:
- Alter your sport periodically. If you are a runner, try switching to cycling for a while to give your knees a rest.
- Flexibility is critical to avoid muscle tears. Good flexibility enables your body to align properly.
- Strengthening exercises help the body absorb impact from different sports.
- Aerobic exercise is one of the most important components of an exercise routine. Maintaining adequate aerobic endurance can greatly reduce the risk of heart disease and cardiovascular issues.
- Don't forget to have fun!
