Nursing Department Magnet Journey
The Nursing Department at Centegra Health System empowers its Associates, supports and fosters their professional development and encourages collaboration among all members of the healthcare team to provide the very best care and quality outcomes for our patients and our community.
We strive to create an environment where the best nurses want to work and the patients know they will receive the highest quality of care. We are actively on the journey to Nursing Excellence!
Shared Governance Councils
The Shared Governance Nursing Councils empower clinical nurses from all areas of practice to utilize their clinical knowledge and expertise to collaborate with nursing leaders in decision making regarding nursing practice, standards and quality of care. The councils meet monthly to bring together a system-wide interdisciplinary team.
Red Carpet Clinicals for Students
The clinical rotations include three unique features at Centegra:
-
A comprehensive orientation that includes a senior leadership welcome, computer and nursing orientation and a chance to express what they expect
-
Clinical rounding by the Clinical Coordinator Nursing Practice, Charge RN and Alumni RN
-
After their clinicals, student nurses attend an exit luncheon where they provide verbal and written input
Alumni Nurses
-
Centegra is proud of how it best utilizes the nursing talents and abilities of our retired nurses.
-
This program offers relaxed registry, flexibility, job duties, admission and discharges and much more. Alumni nurses enjoy the flexibility and autonomy of the role, the opportunity to provide support and education to the staff and the ability to fulfill their need to continue in the profession they love.
Student Nursing Internships
Clinical Ladders and Portfolios
-
Centegra’s Clinical Ladder allows nurses to remain the direct provider of patient care while receiving recognition and rewards for their increased expertise and contribution in their clinical area.
-
The professional portfolio enables all of our nurses to demonstrate their commitment to a lifelong journey of learning as well as to demonstrate their efforts and achievements in clinical competency.
Relationship-based Care
-
We achieve successful outcomes for our patients by building a trusting relationship involving the patient, the patient’s family and all necessary team members.
-
Through caring and interdisciplinary collaboration, we provide a healing environment.
Evidence-based Care
-
Within the context of caring, we seek to provide all of our patients with care based on the best available research, evidence-based theories as well as our clinical expertise.
-
We gather information from the patient history and physical exam and also listen to the preferences of our patients.
Orientation
-
Many members of the Shared Governance Councils support our new Associates as preceptors and mentors to help them make the transition into their new positions.
-
The orientation is individualized to meet the specific needs of the new Associates and ongoing classes are provided.
