Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry, last week was named to the 2005 Solucient 100 Top Hospitals ® Performance Improvement Leaders by Evanston-based Solucient ®, the nation’s leading source of healthcare information products. This is the second consecutive year that the hospital has been named to the performance improvement leader list.In February Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center was also named to the Solucient 100 Top Hospitals list for overall performance.
Solucient’s 100 Top Hospitals ® Performance Improvement Leaders study is designed to identify hospital leaders, CEO’s, executive teams, and board that have instilled a true culture of performance improvement across their organization over five consecutive years (1999-2004) Performance Improvement Leaders, as demonstrated through objective statistical national comparisons, have led their organizations to improve hospital-wide performance consistently, year after year, at a substantially faster rate than their peers in the U. S.
The Performance Improvement Leaders study is the first to measure the rate and consistence of hospital-wide performance improvement nationally, based on both management and clinical outcomes over five consecutive years. The study measures improvement in clinical outcomes, patient safety, efficiency, growth and stability.
“We are proud to be listed among the 100 Top Performance Improvement Leaders in the country. It further demonstrates our dedication to quality, growth and most importantly our dedication to the health of the community in which we serve,” Michael S. Eesley, Centegra President and CEO commented. “It is because of this dedication that the residents of the McHenry County region should feel confident they are receiving quality healthcare that is among the best in the nation.”
The thirteenth edition of Solucient’s 100 Top Hospitals: National Benchmarks for Success study appears in the May 1, 2006 issue of Modern Healthcare magazine. The study found that Performance Improvement Leader hospitals had fewer patient deaths, complications, and adverse safety events than expected.
