At Centegra Health System, we are proud to offer a wide variety of classes, screenings, support groups and lectures to help combat heart disease at any age. The following screenings are ways that Centegra is helping to keep you healthy.
CT Heart Screening ($75)
Centegra offers life-saving heart screenings to determine the amount of plaque or calcium build up in the arteries of the heart.
Heart scans, also known as coronary calcium scans, provide pictures of your heart’s arteries (coronary arteries). Doctors use heart scans to look for calcium deposits in the coronary arteries that can narrow your arteries and increase your heart attack risk. The result of this test is often called a coronary calcium score.
Heart scans may show that you have a higher risk of having a heart attack or other problems before you have any obvious symptoms of heart disease.
Coronary CTA Screening ($499)
Coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) is a heart imaging test that helps determine if plaque buildup has narrowed a patient’s coronary arteries. Plaque is made of various substances circulating in the blood, such as fat, cholesterol and calcium which deposits along the inner lining of the arteries. It can reduce the blood flow, or in some cases, block it completely. This build-up occurs over several years. Coronary CTA is a special type of x-ray examination. Patients undergoing a coronary CTA scan receive an iodine-containing contrast material (dye) as an intravenous (IV) injection to ensure the best possible images of the heart blood vessels. A physician order is required for this screening.
Vascular Screening ($129)
Vascular disease is among the leading causes of death in the United States, yet is generally asymptomatic until a catastrophic event occurs, such as a stroke or an aneurysm rupture. Millions of Americans remain unaware of their own risk for stroke or death from vascular disorders. The Centegra Wellness on the Move mobile health unit offers a comprehensive vascular screening package to check the risk of stroke and heart disease.
ECHO Heart Screening for Teens ($85)
Many active teenagers do not show symptoms of heart abnormalities yet may be at risk for cardiac arrest or even death. Many cases of sudden cardiac death in teenagers, especially ages 13 to 18 years old, can be prevented with a proper heart screening. The Centegra Wellness on the Move mobile health unit offers echocardiogram (ECHO) heart screenings designed for teenagers. This screening is an ultrasound of the heart and can help detect heart defects and abnormalities, even when no symptoms are present.
For questions about the screenings and to schedule an appointment, call 877-CENTEGRA | (877-236-8347) or fiil out our preventive screening form and a representative will contact you.
