ANA Code of Ethics
The Code of Ethics for Nurses  was developed by the American Nurses Association as a guide for carrying out nursing responsibilities in a manner consistent with quality in nursing care and the ethical obligations of the profession.
Illinois Nurse Practice Act
The legislative purpose of professional and practical nursing in the State of Illinois is to affect the public health, safety, and welfare and to regulate and control the public interest. It is further declared to be a matter of public interest and concern that the practice of nursing, as defined in this Act, be performed by only qualified persons.
Shared Governance Councils
The Shared Governance Nursing Councils empower clinical nurses from all areas of practice to utilize their clinical knowledge and expertise to collaborate with nursing leaders in decision making regarding nursing practice, standards and quality of care. The councils meet monthly to bring together a system-wide interdisciplinary team.

The Student Nurse Intern Program is specifically designed to increase the understanding of the critical-thinking and decision-making skills used by the RN in the development of an individualized patient plan of care.The program provides the student nurse an opportunity to flourish in a positive learning environment.
