The highly skilled caregivers at the Centegra Gavers Breast Center, a Division of Centegra Hospital-McHenry, work together as a team to develop a customized plan for each patient needing additional diagnostics or folllow-up treatment. Our team’s combined knowledge and experience contribute to a well-rounded approach that is mindful of each person’s physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. We nurture the whole person and care as much about each patient’s personal journey as we do about his or her physical health.

Our Multidisciplinary Team Approach

The Centegra Gavers Breast Center is led by two medical directors who specialize in breast surgery. Gia Compagnoni, MD, FACS and Aaron Schwaab, MD, FACS lead a multidisciplinary team that collaborates to provide the best outcomes for each of our patients.

Other team members may include:

• On-site radiologists such as Elissa Brebach, MD, who provide diagnostic imaging results within 24 to 48 hours
• Surgeons and oncologists who specialize in breast health
• A dedicated Breast Health Navigator
• Specialists in emotional, nutritional and financial support – both here and at the Centegra Sage Cancer Center
• Genetic Counselor

Breast Health Navigator

Lynn Griesmaier, RN, MS Breast Health Navigator

Centegra’s Breast Health Navigator plays a special supporting role to people who come to us for care. Lynn Griesmaier, RN, MS, provides education and support while guiding patients through the treatment process. Lynn offers our patients and their family members comfort and guidance that is based on her extensive experience with breast health issues.

Specialized Cancer Services

If a person requires more care, she or he may be referred to the Centegra Sage Cancer Center to make sure all treatment needs are met. The Centegra Sage Cancer Center provides a focused team of highly specialized oncology professionals, state-of-the-art technology and infusion and radiation therapy services close to home.

Located on the Centegra Hospital-McHenry campus, less than 15 minutes north of the Breast Center, the program is approved by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
