Other Treatments for AIDS

For Managing HIV-related Cancers

People with HIV infection or AIDS are at increased risk of developing certain cancers. Recommended cancer treatments will depend on the type of cancer.
Treatments may include:
  • Highly active anti-retroviral therapy (HAART)—to suppress the HIV virus and restore immune function
  • Radiation therapy—to treat cancers related to HIV/AIDS
  • Chemotherapy—to treat cancers related to HIV/AIDS
  • Treatment of cancer-related anemia, wasting, bleeding, and seizures
